The monastery of Stams is already visible from far away and is located in the middle of the southern Upper Inn Valley Inns about 35 miles west of the Tyrol's provincial capital, Innsbruck.
By car the monastery can be reached with the Inntal A12 motorway from Innsbruck in about 30 minutes. Even with public transportation such as by bus and rail (on foot in just 10 minutes from the station to the pencil) Stams is reachable around the clock. The walk from the trainstation to the monastery is 10 minutes.
